Variables and parameters in Xpath expressions

Hi everyone, i was wondering if it's posible to use JasperReports variables and parameters inside Xpath expressions (for fields) if I use XML datasources. An example:

Description of $F{Name}:

Person[iD=$V{ID}]/Name

or

Person[iD=$P{ID}]/Name

I've tried the last two with no sucess.

Maybe using variables and parameters in SQL queries is related, however i don't know how to do this either.

However, it works only when I create a Sub Data Source for a subreport. any ideas about how accomplish the same in a field?
