how to render html tags

hi all

i am using JR 1.2.0.in my report i am using a field called description.The data in description is a normal text embedded with html tags.The tags are like<table>,<td>,<tr>,<strong>,<p> etc...They were in upper case only.while i am rendering the data from database it is printing along with the tags.I am exporting my report in RTF format.But i want the effect of html tags i used embedded in description.I made isStyleCheck="true" but it has no effec.May i know wat should i have to do get a proper effective report and which JR version supports these type of html tags.please help me to solve out this problem. Its urgent.
