Error Running iReport

I unzipped iReport 1.2.6, added the tools.jar from JDK 1.5.0_08, plus the jars for the Firebird DB driver into the lib folder but when I ran iReport.bat in an XP Pro environment I got the following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: it/businesslogic/ireport/gui/MainFrame
I attempted to install 1.2.5 but got the same errors.

what iReport distribution?

I downloaded it from JasperForge's download page. I'm not sure what distribution that would be.

I resolved the problem by simply using the windows installer.
