How to start

Please excuse my primitive question:

I downloaded and and extracted iReport.

I cd to iReport-0.0.2bin and doubleclick on ireport.exe

Nothing happens (just the hourglass for a fraction of a second).

Any suggestion welcome.

It's very strange!

I suggest you to upgrade your MS JVM to lastest version (it's theJava VM 3805). You can download from microsoft site for free.

 

What OS do you use ?

You were 100% right. I downloaded JVM and it took off. I use Win'98.

BTW, why can't it use Sun's Java directly?

iReport make large use of WFC (Microsoft Windows Fondation Classes) to provide a windows native interface to WIN32 API.

It's not intended to be portable.

 

I suggest the use of Sun's Java for all the rest :)

iReport use Sun's Java calling java.exe as external command for compiling jasperReports
