different results in using iReport and JR API

I am getting 2 different reports after running iReports compared to me calling the JR API function from within my application.

 

I am new in using JR. I am trying to generate a very basic form from within an application i am working on. Everything works great.

 

Here is my workflow, I use iReports to generate a .jrxml file, then run the report to view the generated form. I get a 1-page pdf file (this is good), however when i load, compile and run the same .jrxml file as before within my application (i.e using JR API {no iReports}) I get a 2-page report (with page 1 the same to page 2).

 

Why is this happening and is anyone else seeing this?

 

The report is so basic, I only have 2 static texts and a few lines here and there, no data form a database.
