How to get rid of extra space in detail band

Hello,

 

I have a report where in most cases at the most 4 or 5 rows are reported. But, the columnFooter still prints at the bottom of the page, leaving the remaining space in the detail band empty. I would like to know if i can get the columnFooter up (or push down) depending on number of columns we get from the database ??

 

I assume this question has definetely been asked, but after exhaustive search i failed to come across any such thread, so am posting this question.

Have you tried setting isFloatColumnFooter to true?

how can i set isFloatColumnFooter to true?? I'm new and i don't know how to do this if somebody can tell me how i will apreciate so much this help

Open the JRXML report definition and add/set the attribute isFloatColumnFooter="true" for the <jasperReport> element.
