is there a way to export a jasper report to a txt file in ascii format?

 

I need to generate a something like that:

id description

---------- -----------------------------------

1 one

2 two

 

of course, what I need is much more complicated than above to write methods to process the strings

I can suggest is to produce report in csv format . and write a parser to strip out commas and replace them with tab chars get the column headers and add ---------- header seperators as you like. Another way is to export it from excel and manually replace stuff you think is not nessesary.
