euro sign in HTML format

Hello,
I am having a little problem with the euro sign; I am using iReport for report creation and if I press AltGr-E, I get the nice euro sign ( ? ). Inside a static text field, or a String expression, it doesn't matter.
IReport stores the euro sign in unicode, as far as I can tell.
The PDFs ans XLS come out nicely, the euro sign is OK. The HTMLs don't. There is a strange combination (€) which replaces it.
Any ideas ?
