2002 JI Open Discussion
By: Phil Clay - philsttr Margins not printed correctly 2003-05-16 08:28 When I print my reports (using 0.4.6 and sun jre 1.4.2b), the margins are messed up. They appear fine in the preview dialog, but when the page comes out of the printer, the page is always offset in some way. Here's what I have tried: hp deskjet 880C + windows = page shifted left .25" and down .25" hp deskjet 880C + linux = page shifted left .25" and up .25" hp laserjet 5 + linux = page shifted up .5" The page shifts result in some things on the report being clipped. All of my other applications (including java apps) print fine with these test cases. Is anybody else seeing this behavior? Is this a bug? By: Albert L. - looks RE: Margins not printed correctly 2003-05-16 09:44 Maybe you should retry using jre/j2se 1.4.1-02 and check if it's not a jre (beta) issue. I've got a case whereby a robust report that already works fine for months, upon switching to 1.4.2b crashed the jvm after repeatly printing only about 5 or 6 times. By: Phil Clay - philsttr RE: Margins not printed correctly 2003-05-16 10:01 Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it in 1.4.1_02, and unfortunately I get the same results. By: Albert L. - looks RE: Margins not printed correctly 2003-05-16 10:44 Was your report working fine in prior version before 0.4.6 ? I only did some preview testing on 0.4.6 and no hard printing yet. However, I've been using 0.4.4 for some time and prints without any problem : A4 & Letter size on both dot-matrix and color printer. By: Phil Clay - philsttr RE: Margins not printed correctly 2003-05-16 11:39 I actually just figured it out before you posted. The report margin was A4, but I'm printing on letter. So i guess the driver was shifting the page around to try to make it fit. I never bothered to even look for the correct paper size. I just assumed jasper was using letter in the samples.
