Get date parameter with JasperServer datebox

I am using Jasperserver 8.0.0 and Jaspersoft studio 6.19 (Both are community version), the following happens: In Jasperserver I am passing a parameter of type date so that the table of dates appears, the problem is that the data type that I am passing originally is of type java.math.BigDecimal, I cannot change the data type from BigDecimal to date because there are thousands of reports that have to be changed, so I was wondering if something could be configured in the jasperserver to make that work.
