SQL Report Parameter Exception

I'm new to Jaspersoft Studio and I'm trying to understand how to implement report parameters using a SQL query. I am using the sample database that comes with Jaspersoft Studios and created a new parameter called "my_order_id" from the outline view. I tried to insert a table and define the parameter within the dataset with a SQL query but got the exception "Reason:parameter  my_order_id does not exist." Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
