Generate complex Jasper reports using report execution REST service

I am new to Jaspersoft and have an urgent business requirement to create a complex multi-page Jasper Report in Jasper Studio with Images, Bar Chart and other infographics.

I have to generate the report from Web application on click of a Button. Is it a good option to use Jasper REST report execution service to pass on the data captured in Web application to Jasper server?

or the best practice is to Jasper JAVA plugin and pass on the report data to the plugin and build the report? Any advice is highly appreciated
