Hide summary band when table returns no data

I am trying to figure out how to hide my summary band that contains a table. I have looked a the following thread https://community.jaspersoft.com/questions/817074/can-i-show-band-conditionally with no luck.

The problem I am seeing is that the 'Print When Expression' section of the summary band only allows references to the parameters, variables and fields from the main data-set, not the data-set that is populating the table.

Any help would be appreciated!!

You can use variable report_count for this in your print when expression:
