Post RESTful API call from Dashboard

I am working on a dashboard and I would like to update the source data from within the dashboard.  The source application has a RESTful API that allows data update via POST API calls.

I would like to be able to make an API call from my jaspersoft dashboard to POST data via a restful API.  Can anyone provide instructions on how I can call a POST API with data from a table in the API call?
