How can i read field name which is designed in jrxml file after complied the report template

i am having jrxml template in base64 formt i stream it and complied and report got genearted but i want to read filed name too how can i do that.suppose if i defined firstname and last name as filed in jrxml file then how can i read firstname last name field on jva layer while compling report or after compilation.
