How to use Virtual Data Source in Data Adapter

Hello JasperSoft community!

We've got JasperReports Server installed on one of our machines. On the server we got two JDBC data sources and a Virtual Datasource to combine them. We've also got a Domain defined and some testing report using this Domain.
We want to extend our reports, and see what else we're able to do with Jaspersoft. I started experimenting with Jaspersoft Studio.

Is it possible to use our virtual datasource to create data adapter? I can't find any article on that, could you please provide some instructions?

And if it's not possible, what other approach can I use to create and run the report?
