It doesnt work if you mix "<" or ">" with another html tag (eg <font size =3> </font>) I had the same error.. In my case, i was trying to use < or > with bold. "<" and ">" are interpreted as a html tag creating the following error: "ERROR [sTDERR] [Fatal Error] :3:2: The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup."

I'm using iReport to create a pdf file with text from my database. I can't use the characters < or > in my text because it's interpreted as a HTML tag creating the following error: "ERROR [sTDERR] [Fatal Error] :3:2: The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup." Is there anything i could do to fix this problem?! Thanks
