To allow JasperReports Server running as a non-root execution for Tomcat process, users must run JasperReports Server bundled installation package as a NON root user.
For example, users need to:
Login as a non-root user (i.e. testuser)
Run through the standard installer screens (the default install location /opt would normally have enough permissions to allow the testuser to install)
Start JRS after the install
<js-install-dir>/ctlscript.sh start
Now, users should see two processes:
- testuser apache-tomcat process
- postgres postgres database process
Notice now that apache tomcat runs under user “testuser” who started the process. The important part is NOT to install the application as the root user to achieve the non-root execution capability.
