  • How to set a font globally for a font extension

    Jim W

    Issue:

    If you have installed a font extension for unicode fonts to support international characters such as Chinese/Japanese/Thai characters being rendered in PDFs  per the instructions at http://community.jaspersoft.com/wiki/adding-fonts-embedding-pdf, JSS recognizes the new fonts and when previewing the report, the special characters are shown in PDF exports. On JRS, you may not see the special characters in the PDF export, even though the font extension is installed properly. If you explicitly set the font to the new font extensions installed (via a default style in the report definition), you will see the specific characters in PDF.

    Is there a way to to make sure all reports will use the font extension when exported to PDF without having to explicitly set the font in every report?

    Resolution:

    Yes, you can set the font globally in jasperreports.properties: WEB-INF/classes/jasperreports.properties

    net.sf.jasperreports.default.font.name=Unicode

    Ref. Case #01463671
