Summary:
[iReport plugin/Web Services] unable to connect
When attempting to connect to server from iReport, received the following error:
Error: 1 - Could not open Hibernate Session for transaction; nexted exception is
org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: Cannot open connection
Versions:
iReport 1.2.2
jasperserver 0.9.2 (linux installer.bin)
jasperserver-ws 0.9.2
I followed the "JasperServer Web Services War InstallGuide Date: 04-24-06" instructions.
I edited the
webapps/jasperserver-ws/META-INF/context.xml file with the username and password I needed. When I attempted the
connection from iReport, the catalina.out log file showed the error "MESSAGE: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'
(using password: YES)".
I am not too familiar with Tomcat but what seems to have happened is that the context.xml was cached by
Tomcat at the time that it opened up the .war file.
Workaround:
Rather then editing the context.xml file mentioned above and in the documentation, edited the file:
.../jasperserver-0.9.2/apache-tomcat/conf/Catalina/localhost/jasperserver-ws.xml
Once I had the correct username and password in this file, the above error no longer occurred when
connecting to the server.
Followups:
No follow-up comments have been posted.
