This is nothing nice to have for our company since it is required for us to conform to certain external specifications / standards.
Sorry, if this may have been implemented in the meantime, but I couldn't find instructions about it. Also, some of the properties you mentioned in your PDF/A-1 tutorial...

... are not chosable from the combobox in Jaspersoft Studio (I am using the latest plugin version). BTW: the property list would be more useful if it would be sorted alphabetically.

Same for us: I'd also like to request support for pdf/A-2 as well as A-3. A minimum requirement from our customer.
Upgrading to a newer iText version like 5.4.5 is not possible in the near future because they have changed their licensing model and we cannot ship our products with it.
Any plans for pdf/A-2? Not much has happened here since the request on March 5, 2014...
