When the loading of an image causes an error, the option to display a blank (1 pixel) image, has been commented out of the source code. Therefore an infintely recurring error occurs in the viewer causing the viewer to freeze.
We picked up this error on images which had for some reason zero byte length (!) Anyway it doesn't handle an error the way it should which is to display a blank.
