I installed iReport 5.6.0 on my Windows machine and when I try to open a file or launch the program, the splash screen appears "Loading Cached objects" and then nothing happens. It doesn't open nor does it appear in my task manager. I searched the Knowledge Base and couldn't find anything to help me resolve the issue.

I installed iReport 5.6.0 to C:\Program Files\iReport-5.6.0
I installed Java sdk 7 update 80 (64bit) to C:\Program Files\Java

Received error : "Cannot find java exe." "Neither (null)\\jre\\bin\\java.exe nor (null)\\vin\\java.exe exists"

Added Environmental variable Java_Home with the following path C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_80

IReport5.6 opened successfully.

I have downloaded the iReport zip file and unzipped it. I tried to open the iReport application in the bin folder, a screen appears saying "Loading cached objects" and then it disappears and nothing happens.
I checked the Java home and the path is pointing to the right location but I have jdk7-64. Is iReport compatible with jdk7-64?
If not what else can I do to get it working?

Same here, and cannot find a solution for this.. could you?

I am facing the same issue as in comment 4, I tried on mac, ubuntu and windows and none of them are launching and there is no option to install jdk7 as oracle now gives java 8 as default option, I need to edit my reports and there is no way I can run iReport, do we have some alternative, etc

Thanks,
Sadashiv

I have IR 5.6.0 and JDK1.7.80 in Windows 7 and 10.
There is file ireport.conf In C:\iReport\etc.
You must set: jdkhome="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_80"
It works.
IR doesn't work with jdk1.8 and later.
