As far as we have been able to tell, we have to have defaults we want to use in a template and open that template to create a new report, rather than just starting from scratch. It would be better to be able to define global preferences (and maybe it's just a 'use this template for new reports by default' parameter) that are always loaded when the app starts.
need global preferences that affect the way all new reports are created (for instance, I always want my default font to be 'Arial', not 'SanSerif', so I'd like either to create a default style once that affects all future element creation on new or existing reports (that don't already have a default style), or I'd like to be able to set the default font.
