if i comment sections of my template with an editor, open it in iReport and save it, all comments are gone.

I think it does not deserve the "Trivial" Severity as comments for documenting things like report parameters are very important in working teams.
When will you fix it? The bug also appears in Jasperstudio. It is anoying folks!
I completely agree with others. Commenting in code is extraordinarily important, both for sharing among team members and for working with code for commenting out sections while troubleshooting.
Wake up jasper team. Give us this functionality. Comments are important! 2006 --> 2018 are a lots of years...
