There are some properties on JasperReports that need to have dynamic values, e.g:

net.sf.jasperreports.export.xls.sheet.header.*
net.sf.jasperreports.export.xls.sheet.footer.*

It would be a very useful feature to add Text Field Expression to this properties and several other String properties.

Yes, this would be useful.
But it's not an iReport feature. Please log this on the JasperReports tracker.
