The issue: after to have assigned a type to a link parameter, it returns to default class "java.lang.String".

From version 4.1.1 JasperReports is able to guess the class type by itself, so will ignore all the expression classes. This is independent by iReport.
To keep your jrxml compatible with older versions of JasperReports, please use an iReport versions in sync with the JasperReports version you are using.
