[#1030] - uninstalling ireport does not remove config.xml

Category:
Bug report
Priority:
Normal
Status:
Assigned
Project: Severity:
Minor
Resolution:
Open
Component: Reproducibility:
Always
Assigned to:

install ireport
uninstall report
go to .ireport
you'll see config.xml still there

the danger of this is if you reinstall ireport you have the classpath settings of the previous installation loaded, confusing the hell out of users and wasting days on the classnotfoundexception error.

Remove the .ireport directory is not safe, becuase it can be shared by several iReport installations.

A classnofound exception can happen only for classes not belonging to iReport, so the problem is always the user defined classpath.

Anyway, thanks for your submissions.

Do other apps use config.xml as well? if so then ok its not a bug, but it can confuse the hell out of a user, if he/she reinstalls ireport to find that the installation wont be the default installation.

usually when someone uninstalls to install a program , is to start from scratch using a fresh install with defaults. in this case that can never happen.

the mappings for user uninstalling/installing is to get a fresh default install. those natural mappings does not exist with ireport.
