Running Jasper report with parameters

I am new to using jaspersoft reporting and I am creating jasper reports on external databases. I have a Jrbundle that needs to be updated.

And I was not able to run the report that has parameters!! When I preview the dataset it is showing zero results.

When I remove parameters from SQL dataset(removing Where clause) then I can preview the data. but when parameters are included in the SQL dataset, data preview shows zero results.

Please help me to understand if there are any additional Jars needed to preview the Jasper report that has parameters.

For example, one solution is to preview the data after specifying parameters during preview.

1. Write SQL with parameters in the dataset.

2. Press the 'Refresh Preview Data' button in the data preview tab. --> Zero case.

3. Execute the parameters in the Preview tab.

4. Press the 'Refresh Preview Data' button in the Data Preview tab of the dataset again. --> Data will be displayed.
