How to default an input control to todays date in an ad-hoc-view

I have created an ad-hoc-view using a topic to access my data. In the jrxml I have prepared a parameter "param_ValueDate" with class type = "java.sql".date and default value expression = "TODAY()".
In the ad-hoc-view the input control shows the today's date (e.g. 2018-09-26). When I run it on the next day it shows the same date ("2018-09-26") instead of today's date ("2018-09-27").

Some weeks I have created a similar ad-hoc-view where the date defaulting works fine. But I have no clue what I make wrong now.

I have exported the both ad-hoc-views from Jaspersoft Server and identified the following difference in the topicJRXML.data files:

where it is o.k.:

    <parameter name="param_ValueDate" class="java.sql.Date">
        <defaultValueExpression><![CDATA[TODAY()]]></defaultValueExpression>
    </parameter>

not o.k.:

    <parameter name="pmtr_ValueDate" class="java.sql.Date">
        <defaultValueExpression><![CDATA[com.jaspersoft.jasperserver.war.util.DateTimeUtil.parseSQLDate("yyyy-MM-dd","2018-09-27")]]></defaultValueExpression>
    </parameter>

What do I have to do to achieve the defaulting to the current date?
