Hello there. I have a report that passes a string parameter in japanese characters..the report is perfectly okay with Windows platiorm..it can correctly display the japanese characters..however when I tried to deploy it under Linux platform the strings turned out to be garbage characters..

 

does anybody have any idea? :(

by the way, other texts that were directly taken from the database were ok..the characters were correctly displayed.. :(

 

only strings which were passed as a parameter were displayed in garbage characters....and only in linux platform this problem occured....

sounds like a charset problem. :-)

 

did you look at the international example? i18n I think? Dunno if it would help or not, but if you haven't seen it you should check it out...

u think it is a charset problem? :(

but i got all other texts displayed correctly...strings that were retrieved from the jasperreports query string....

only those that were passed as a parameter displays garbage characters... and only in linux system..hmmm :(

 

but anyway i will try to look at the example you mentioned...

i've tried mu code with another windows XP pc...but the garbage characters were also displayed.. :(

 

there must be something else i need to setup here.. :( help?

:( it was a problem with the regional settings in the control panel... :( huhu it's okay now.. :)
