The current limitation could become a problem for our usage of JasperReports. Because when reserving all of the possible required space this could result in alot of empty space. I've have fields that could contain as much as 256 characters but typically won't contain more than 50. The only sollution for this problem that I see now is to do a distinct select on all fields in the report and precalculate all widths.
