How do I subtract two date fields and I need to get result as date..?

Hi,

I am using iReport version 3.7.6, againest a informix database.

 

I have two date fields in my database that are jin ava.sql.sate format.Actually I nedd to show the result of subtracted dae valuse in Date format.

Eg: (Check_Date)05/07/2010 - 04/05/2010(Other_Date) = 01/02/2010(Result)

I need show this in report as below:

Check Date: 04/03/2015         Pay Period: 03/15/2015 - 03/28/2015

I tried with date functions like .getTime(),.getYear() but i didnt get proper result. Would anybody  please help to solve this issue.
