Calculated field using to_char is not working with JasperReports Server 6.0.0

With JasperReports Server 5.6.1, I had been using a caluclated field on my Oracle datasource with following expression:

to_char(some_date_field, 'MM')

With JasperReports Server 6.0.0, I only see empty cells in the (cross)/table.

Using a calculated field which simply returns the date field is working, as well as using the expression on the Oracle database directly.

 

Anyone has a hint on what could be the problem here?
