How to add support for a new database vendor?

I represent NuoDB, Inc. which is a NewSQL database vendor. We'd like to investigate what it would mean to provide a tighter integration with Jaspersoft.

With whom would I talk, and what documentation exists that may guide us along this path?

Attached find an image of some Jaspersoft document (sources unknown) that apparently details requirements. But what is not clear is how much of this are mandatory requirements, or for example, the SQL Data Types, are these specific data types really required (after all the actual names are database specific for many listed there).
