Use of report designers, IDEs

2005-04-19 04:02

What report designers are most popular among JasperReports users and what are their approximate "market shares"? I know about JasperAssistant and iReport. Does it make a difference that JasperAssistant is available for Eclipse and is not free? That iReport is still a beta?

Thanks,

Take a look at the results of the user survey...

I use IReport because it's a standalone application and I can integrate my own plugins (for example loading whole report-sets from database and verify it's design concerning logical terms of my datafields before store back to database) that wouldn't be possible with JasperAssistant... also I don't use Eclipse...

just my opinion

I have used both JasperAssistant and iReports for designing reports.

Both the IDE's have some advantages and disadvantages.

The main advantage of JasperAssistant is it comes as a plug in for eclipse. As a plug in it gives enough functionality to design reports.

But iReports even if it is a beta version, has more functionality and good user freindly features than JasperAssistant.

I personally prefer using iReports rather than JasperAssistant.
