Handling total with native numbers

Hi

I have a grouping of records and a total at the end of the records for a particular column. In some cases the numbers are negative and what I get is a much larger number than what would have been the result of adding say two negative 5s. I woul get something like 356. Is there a reason why it is giving me a seemingly much larger arbitrary number when I encounter negative numbers to be totalled?

Is there a way to handle negative numbers so that it displays the negatively added numbers correctly like it does with positive numbers?
