How to Edit .jasper file

 Hi all,

Good day. My name is Rajesh, i 'am new to Jasper reports & IREPORTS. I have some jasper compiled files(.jasper). i want to know how i can edit the .jasper file?? is it possible to edit jasper compiled files in IREPORTS?? or we have to open only the jrxml file?

i don't the jrxml files. i have only .jasper files.

Please help me guys. i 'am struck up in middle with this doubt. i have searched in google but didn't get how to edit it. please someone take few mins to reply my post.

I believe you're only supposed to edit the jrxml.  BUT...recent versions of iReport allow you to open a .jasper file, and they will create an appropriate jrxml file that you can edit and save.

Yes, you can use iReport to edit jasper files. Select "Open" and select "*.jasper" as the file type.

Select the *.jasper file and iReport will ask you to specify the name of *.jrxml file to convert to.

This means that you'll be able to edit the report layout, but you'll have to have access to or create your own data to recreate the report.
