Is there a way put a standard background image in a report. Over that image the actual data elements should be displayed. Is it achivable through Japser?

Dear Teodor,

I want to set a background image for any report i generate. Let me explain the exact use case.

I have report which show inventory of a network. If there is no device present in the network then i need to display a "No data" image in the background. But Foreground still continue to have inventory report columns header.

Hope i am clear. Please let me know is it possiable in our jasper or any more inputs needed.

Thanks for g8 support.

Regards,

Navaneethan.

Hi,

If you want to put an image in the background, then

you could use the <background> section of the report

template.

But I would not do it like this.

I would rather generate a JasperPrint object by filling

the template with data, using whenNoDataType="NoPages".

Then, I would test that this document has at least

one page, which would tell me if there were records

in the datasource (JasperPrint.getPages()).

If there si no page, then I would supply the end user

with a different generated report with one page on

which I simply write: "No data".

I hope this helps.

Dear Teodor,

Thank you for your inputs.

I can do it, the way you have suggested. But my requirement is the one i explained before. i.e. i need to set whenNoDataType as "AllSectionsNoDetail" and a "No Data" background image. Here i do not know, how to set an image in back ground.

i.e. I do not know how to make use <background> section you have suggested. Could you please tell me how to use it?

Once again, Thanks for your great support.

Regards,

Navaneethan.

Hi,

Take a look at the "hyperlink" or the "query" samples

provided to see how to place an image in

the <background> section.

I hope this helps.

Teodor
