Establishing JDBC connection to Sql Server 2008

Hi

I started working with JasperServer and iReports recently. I successfully created a report in iReport, and wanted to deploy it to JasperServer.

The data source for the report id SQL Server 2008.

The problem is that whenever i try to add a data source in jasperserver and test connection it gives the following error

The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

 

org.springframework.web.util.NestedServletException: Handler processing failed; nested exception is java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file

I have included the jar file for Sql Server 2008 - sqljdbc4 in the lib folder of tomcat which is

\jasperserver-pro-3.7\apache-tomcat\common\lib

 

Please help and let me know how can i establish the JDBC connection to Sql server 2008.

java version - 1.6

tomcat version - 5.5.20

given driver: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver

given url: jdbc:sqlserver://host:1433;databaseName=yourDatabase

Is it possible that you have java 1.5 also installed on your box, and tomcat uses it for some reason?

The error text makes me think about this case..
