iReport Modules

 I'm working with iReport modules to support a new QueryExecuter (Datasource and custom connection to get the fields).
This works well when I generate a report using jasper compiler.
But when I try to generate the preview using iReport it shows NULL in all fields.A workaround to get work it is changing the current connection to 'Sample Database JDBC Connection'.I have checked the source code of iReport to see how JRQueryExecuters and JRConnections were implemented, I have tried to do the same without good results.Do you have a references or tutorial about advanced issues for iReport modules?
