Jaspersoft Community edition

This is regarding Jaspersoft v 3.7 (community edition) and iReport.

I have not found any thing interesting in Jaspersoft community edition so far. They seem to allow only one single select query or querying from one table. I have to manually write an sql query (if I have to join multiple tables) and then use Jaspersoft (community edition) only to present my data.

As far as the community edition, I have not found any place, where it would allow me to import all tables from my metadata and drage-n-drop them to my report design area for building pivot tables, etc.

Please let me know if I’m missing any thing. I would assume that these capabilities would be included in professional and enterprise editions.

I am a newbie but might be able to help you with your comment about writing a single query.  After configuring my data source I was able to simply launch the report wizard and use the design query button which presents a gui that enables multiple table selection and automatically finds the join conditions between tables.  You can use the gui to modify the join condition or flip over to the sql tab and manually modify.    I found the interface to be intuitive.   This is in the community edition.
