Receipt printer text not matching screen.

I am trying to use jasper reports with a few different receipt printers but the text size does not seem to match with what I have on the screen to what prints. On a TM-U675 printer it seems to print double the width of what shows on the screen and with a TM-U375 it seems to be about 20% wider or so. Microsoft word 2007 seems to print exactly what you see on the screen onto the paper so I know it’s not how I installed the printer. What do you think is wrong?
