Setting Connection to a Template

I am working with version 1.3.3 (for legacy reasons) and would like to find out how you associate a report with a specific data connection. I have development and production templates that I want associated with different database connections. When I open each individually, the default in both cases is the development database.

My question then, is where is that information stored regarding which database the template is connected to? Then, how do I associate the dev template with dev database and prod template with prod database?
