eonarts
Total newbie to Jasper Server. I unziped the download on a Ubuntu server. I opened the PDF for installing the server. The doc said to run this file:In Linux, the installer is a .bin file; you can run it from the command line or from a graphical environment. To start the installer from the command line, login with an account that has administrative privileges and open a bash shell. At the command line, enter the name of the installer file. For example: ./jasperserver-ce-3.7-linux-installer.bin However, the file does not exist. Suggestions? file that was downloaded with the download button: jasperserver-ce-3.7.0-bin.zip
philippeake
Simplest answer is to verify that you have mysql and tomcat installed on your Linux system -- install them if not -- both installs are easy, then just follow the install document, running the ant scripts as described there. It gives you a bit more flexibility in how you set things up, so I would generally prefer that over the install-everything-script anyway.
mdahlman
eonarts,The "Download" button takes you here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/jasperserver/files/JasperServer/That page includes the file you downloaded, jasperserver-ce-3.7.0-bin.zip, but it also includes jasperserver-ce-3.7.0-linux-installer.bin. You want the latter. For production purposes, the one you downloaded is better. As philippeake mentions, it's more flexible. But for initial evaluations most folks find the bundled installer easier.Regards,MattWhile I'm looking at it, I guess I could just post the direct link to the Linux installer:http://sourceforge.net/projects/jasperserver/files/JasperServer/JasperServer%203.7.0/jasperserver-ce-3.7.0-linux-installer.bin/download
