edilmar
Hi, I had used 3.0.0 for many mounths. Then, today I download 3.6.1 and started using. However, I think it is slower than my previous version to open files. Is this right? Is there some way to optimize this?
mdahlman
edilmar,"Is there some way to optimize this?"You could get more memory. (OK, that's not helpful. I just couldn't resist.) iReport is now built on the NetBeans platform. It takes more resources, and it's slower than iReport 3.0.0 was. There's really no way around this fundamentally. Bummer. But I think the benefits genuinely outweigh the drawbacks by a very wide margin. With the first releases of iReport based on NetBeans (iReport 3.1) you had new features, but you also had some missing features. There were benefits, but there were real trade-offs as well. Now (iReport 3.6) you have lots and lots of new features with almost no missing features. The readme docs list piles of new stuff. To use an infrastructure like this makes the iReport developers lots more productive, since they spend relatively less time on infrastructure items and more time on report design features.Regards,Matt
