How to only sometimes Print Repeated Values?

In a grouped tabular report, I want one of my detail band fields to display on the first row of the group and the first row of a new page if the group continues on a new page. How can I do this? Is there some combination of "Print Repeated Values" and "Print When" that can help me?

I may have fund my own solution, using this as the Print When expression:

 

new Boolean ($V{REPORT_COUNT}.intValue() == 1 || ($V{PAGE_COUNT}.intValue() == 1 && $V{PAGE_NUMBER}.intValue() > 1))

Any follow ups on this. This seems to 'force' the output of the column value on new pages, but if the column value changes within the same page, the value is not printed.
