burferd
I searched the documentation and forum for 'excel formula' but did not find anything in the documentation and only a couple vague references in the forum. I think I know the answer, but can anyone tell me if there is any way to pass excel formulas to a cell in a jasper report and have it export to the excel output? I need to be able to fill an excel output cell with a formula. Can it be passed as a string? Is there any special jasper data type that will allow this? szaharia
Variables are the answer. You could use and customize a JasperReports variable to make your desired statistics. Regardssanda
burferd
I am not just interested in filling the cell with the correct value. I want to be able to place the formula so that if someone modifies a cell on the resultant excel page, it will change accordingly.
burferd
Bringing this up again, just in case. Can anyone definitely tell me if Jasper Reports has ANY mechanism for inserting formulas into cells in an Excel spread sheet? If not, can anyone suggest a java compatible reporting software that does?

szaharia
Hi, At the moment Excel formula is not supported in JasperReports. If you consider this a very strong requirement, you could post a feature request here. Regards, sanda
burferd
This is very important to my application. It makes the difference as to whether or not I can use Jasper. I went to the link, but it was not obvious how to post a new request. How do I add a future request?
szaharia
Sorry about the omission: you have to create an account first, in order to submit a bug/feature request. So, try to log in, and you'll be sent to a new login/create account page. After creating and validating the account, enter again the feature request link and authenticate yourself. After that you can submit anything you consider to be crucial. Regards, sandaPost edited by: shertage, at: 2007/08/07 14:
