Cell level formatting in JasperReports

I want to print a cross tab report in which a column may have different type of data in different rows like image in row1 and text in row2 and date in row3 and so on. So I can't define style/data type for a column in my report. I want to know if JasperReport provides a way to define style/formatting at cell level.

Also the report data that I have in memory is pre-calculated and I just want to send the same data to the printer. I can't use the variable, group/groupheader in my report template to print row/column aggregates with some special styles as I have the aggregates in memory and JasperReport need not do any grouping or any other calculation on my report data. Is there a way to print the pre-calculated data with special styles for rows and columns?

Thanks in advance for the help.
