grouping does not print, or gets overwritten

2005-05-31 08:00

HI there!

First, thanks both to the jasperreports and the iReport team -- you've done wonders for the world of Java reporting!

I'm having an issue with groups which I'm not sure how to solve. I've defined a group in my report and put the data field into the footer, so that the data field does not print if it is null. The problem I get is that the grouping is either overwritten by the next data field or the grouping does not print. The only grouping that does print is for the very last data field.

Am I doing something wrong here? What do I need to do to make this happen?

Thanks

Chris Cureau

I'm sure I have already replied to this question...

Use a band (i.e. a group header) for each subreport.

Giulio,

Thanks for the reply...the original report had no subreports in it -- just a grouping with a data field in the grouping. Are you saying that the field I want to print needs to be in a subreport if I want to put it in a group?
